This museum-quality piece showcases the iconic Golden Hall of Meduseld with its distinctive Norse-inspired architecture, featuring intricately carved wooden details, authentic thatched roofing, and meticulous stonework throughout the foundation and steps. The sculptors at WETA have paid exceptional attention to every architectural element, from the ornate horse-head decorations that crown the roof to the weathered texture of the wooden pillars and walls. The piece incorporates various premium materials to achieve different textures and effects, creating a realistic representation of the ancient Rohirrim stronghold. The architectural details include carefully rendered Nordic patterns, accurately scaled wooden beams, and precisely crafted stone textures that capture the weathered appearance of this ancient fortress. The environmental elements surrounding the structure, including the terraced landscape and stone pathways, have been thoughtfully designed to create a complete and immersive presentation that truly brings this iconic location from Middle-earth to life.
About Edoras
Edoras is the majestic capital city of Rohan and the seat of its kings, situated upon a solitary hill in the valley of Harrowdale at the foot of the White Mountains. Built by Rohan’s first king, Eorl the Young, this golden hall of Meduseld served as both the royal court and symbolic heart of the Horse-lords’ kingdom. In J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterwork, Edoras represents the epitome of Anglo-Saxon and Norse cultural elements that define the Rohirrim, with its great wooden hall adorned with intricate carvings and horse motifs reflecting their horse-centric culture and warrior society. During the War of the Ring, Edoras played a pivotal role as the site of crucial events, including Gandalf’s healing of King Théoden from Saruman’s influence and the gathering of the Rohirrim before the Battle of Helm’s Deep. The city’s design, heavily influenced by Norse and Anglo-Saxon architecture, became an iconic symbol of Tolkien’s detailed world-building and was magnificently realized in Peter Jackson’s film adaptation, where it stood as a testament to the proud and ancient culture of the Horse-lords.
